How to play BattleBips
BattleBips turns the barcodes on everything around you into creatures, called bips, that battle in teams of three. This guide covers the basics.
1. Scan barcodes
Open the game in your phone’s browser and point the camera at any barcode: a can, a book, a toy. Every barcode hides a species of bip, and it is the same for everyone: if your friend scans the same yoghurt, they get the same species. What changes is the specimen: each player gets one with their own stats, a little above or below the average.
- You can get 5 new bips a day. Scanning one you already have again is free.
- Product barcodes (EAN and UPC) can give any rarity. QR codes and other codes give wandering bips, which are uncommon at most.
- Typing the number by hand works for common and uncommon bips; rarer ones have to be scanned with the camera.

2. Build a team of three

Pick three bips and put them in order. The first one stands in the front line and takes almost every hit; behind it go the ones that hit hard or heal. Each bip has an element (fire, water, plant or neutral) and an archetype (tank, fighter, assassin or support), and some combinations unlock synergies.
3. Battle
Battles are automatic: bips act in order of speed and use their skills on their own. The strategy happens before the battle, in which bips you pick, in what order and which items they carry. If a battle reaches 30 rounds, the team with the most health left wins.
- The tower: harder and harder floors against the game’s teams. Every 5 floors you earn an extra scan and XP, and higher floors drop better items.
- The leaderboard: battles against other players’ defence teams, with no waiting. Up to 10 a day, with a score that goes up or down as you win or lose.
- Duels: challenge a friend with a link and play at the same time. More in duels with friends.
4. Level up and come back tomorrow
Bips earn XP in every battle, up to level 30. At levels 10 and 20 they evolve: they change their look and get stronger. There are 3 missions every day, weekly missions and achievements, and if you play several days in a row, every third day of your streak gives you an extra scan.
