Which bip is in my barcode?
Every barcode in the world hides a bip. It is not picked at random when you scan: the code decides the species, and it is the same for everyone.
Same code, same species
When you scan a code, the game turns it into a fixed species of bip: its rarity, element, archetype, skills and look. If someone else scans the same product, they get the same species. That is what makes comparing fun: what is hiding in your favourite cereal?
Your specimen is unique, though: its stats vary up to 10 % above or below the species average, so two players with the same bip do not have exactly the same one.
The five rarities
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
Out of every 100 product barcodes, on average:
- Common: 60.
- Uncommon: 25.
- Rare: 10.
- Epic: 4.
- Legendary: 1.
Each rarity has about 7.5 % more stats than the one before: a legendary is stronger than a common, but a good team of commons with the right synergies can beat it.
Which codes work
- Products (EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC, found on almost everything sold): can give any rarity.
- Other codes (QR, tickets, labels…): give wandering bips, which are uncommon at most.
- Codes typed by hand: work for common and uncommon bips. If a number hid something rarer, the game asks you to scan it with the camera.
Only the type of product is used, to choose the element: bips never carry the name or brand of what you scan.

Frequently asked questions
- How likely is a legendary bip?
- Roughly 1 in every 100 product barcodes. Epics come up in 4 out of 100 and rares in 10.
- If a friend and I scan the same code, do we get the same bip?
- The same species, yes. But each of you has your own specimen, with slightly different stats.
- Can I make up numbers to get legendaries?
- No. Typed codes only give common and uncommon bips; the rarer ones have to be scanned with the camera.
